Carlotta Libonati was born in Rome in October 1996.She graduated with honors and a special mention from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Luca Sanzò. She also completed advanced studies in chamber music at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia with Ivan Rabaglia and attended the viola course at the same institution with Simone Briatore.She has performed in numerous Italian musical venues and festivals, including as a soloist at ViolaFest Siena, Amici della Musica di Ancona, Teatro Off Off, ArteScienza, and the “Assoli” concert series of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana.Having developed a strong interest in contemporary music, she pursued specialized studies in this field. She made her debut at the ArteScienza Festival with eViola, a work by Silvia Lanzalone dedicated to her. She also took part in the festival presentation of Codici a tratti, an exhibition of the adaptive sculptural-musical work by Licia Galizia (sculpture) and Michelangelo Lupone (music and pianophones), a performance that led her to appear at the European Parliament in Strasbourg in February 2024. Since 2019, she has been a member of the PMCE (Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble), through which she has had the opportunity to perform with internationally renowned artists such as Bryce Dessner and Katia and Marielle Labèque.In 2020, together with flutist Stephanie Winker, stage designer Franziska Ritter, and architect Sophie von Mansberg, she inaugurated the 105 “1:1 Concerts”, conceived by cultural mediator Christian Siegmund.She has performed in numerous chamber music seasons and festivals, including the Rome Chamber Music Festival, Accademia dei Cameristi di Bari, IUC, I Tramonti di Tinia, and Villa Pennisi in Musica, collaborating with prominent national and international musicians.She is a founding member of the Klem Quartet, with which she attended the string quartet course led by the Quartetto Prometeo at the Avos Project Music School.With the Klem Quartet, she won First Prize at the “Pietro Marzani” Competition 2023, which led to performances in important concert series and festivals, including the Oratorio del Gonfalone, Musica con Le Ali, Giovani Talenti dell’Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, Etruria Musica Festival, Amici della Musica di Firenze, the Società del Quartetto di Vicenza, and the Associazione Filarmonica di Rovereto.She is also a founding member of the Suonincanto Trio, together with pianist Sofia Adinolfi and vocalist Simona Ruisi. With this ensemble, she won the First Prize ex aequo at the “Luigi Chieli” National Chamber Music Competition.She collaborates as Principal Viola with the Roma Tre Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica di Benevento, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, and the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo di Palermo. As a section violist, she has performed with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, I Solisti Aquilani, and Orchestra Leonore.Since 2024, she has collaborated with the Accademia dei Cameristi di Bari.In October 2025, she was declared successful in the competition for Principal Viola of the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto.Since 2026, she has collaborated with the Fondazione Prometeo, and in May she performed Viola in My Life I by Morton Feldman with the foundation’s ensemble.
